Sharon Courage, RN, MPH

Sharon Courage, RN, MPH, is vice president with The Greeley Company, a division of HCPro, Inc., in Marblehead, MA. She brings more than 20 years of healthcare experience to her work with hospitals and healthcare organizations across the country.

Courage assists clients with the development and implementation of a variety of healthcare programs including quality management, patient safety, care/case management, risk management, and medical and cost management processes. She is also conversant in the Joint Commission standards and CMS Conditions of Participation and assists organizations with the assessment of current compliance and the development of processes to meet standards.

Courage has served as the director of quality and clinical programs for several community and teaching hospitals, integrated health systems, and managed care organizations. She has also been a consultant for many years, assisting hospitals in the assessment and design of performance improvement programs, patient safety methodology, case management program design, Joint Commission and CMS compliance, and implementation of quality and medical management software.

Courage has presented at international conferences on subjects including Quality: The Next Step; CQI: Tools and Methods of Analysis; Quality Automation: Choosing the Right System; Restructuring for Capitation; Managing Quality Through Data in an Era of Healthcare Reform; Critical Pathway Development: Making Them Work; and Practice-Based Care Management: Model, Design, and Implementation. She is the author of "Case Management: A Strategy for Resource Management," published in the Journal for Healthcare Quality.

Courage received her diploma in nursing from the Philadelphia General Hospital School of Nursing, BSN from the University of Massachusetts, and MPH from Boston University.
